Kyle Orton, as implied by my unnecessarily long headline, is injured. He has some sort of ankle injury, and as best I can totally guess, it’s probably a high ankle sprain.
I guess that because one of the Lions defenders caught Orton’s cleat on his jersey and kind of rolled it when they fell to the ground. And yes, this totally means that Rex Grossman is in the game and, according to the latest melodramatic update from former Dream Job “winner” Mike Hall, Orton is out for the duration of today’s football.
Originally, it was reported that Orton was questionable, but it would appear that Hall’s lot in life is to keep tumbling down the reporter ladder of shame.
Anywho, the good news is — and this is only really good if you’re not a Bears fan — that Grossman is already in the game and he’s already overthrowing a wide open Devin Hester on a deep route, which seems almost impossible to do.
Obviously once Hall and the Fox boys get their mess together and find out what’s wrong with Orton we’ll let you know, but if you have interest in seeing the Sex Cannon get booed (it happened one series into the second half) while the Detroit Lions try to win for the first time (they’re currently up 23-13), make sure and tune into this glorious fail-fest.
