PLAYER NOTES

--DT Tommie Harris had a sack for the second straight game after getting blanked in the first six. He also had two tackles and two QB hurries.

--RB Kevin Jones had just one carry for minus-one yard, even though the Bears ran the ball 30 times. He has just three carries total in the past three games.

--WR Brandon Lloyd, who was the Bears' leading receiver after four games, missed his fourth straight game with a sprained knee and has not played since Sept. 28.

--WR Rashied Davis led the Bears with five catches and 64 receiving yards and is second on the team with 27 receptions and first with 318 yards.

--WR Devin Hester lost a fumble on a kickoff return that led to a Lions touchdown, and he averaged just 16.3 yards on his four kickoff returns.

REPORT CARD VS. LIONS

PASSING OFFENSE: D -- QB Kyle Orton was having a solid first half until he suffered an ankle injury just before halftime that could sideline him for up to four games, although the Bears won't address the severity of the injury until Wednesday. Rex Grossman looked rusty in relief but did throw a TD pass, along with a pick, while finishing with a 49.9 passer rating. Rashied Davis (five catches, 64 yards) had the only reception of longer than 18 yards, a 24-yarder.

RUSHING OFFENSE: B -- Rookie Matt Forte had his best game as a pro with career highs in yards (126) and average yards per carry (5.7). He had four runs for 60 yards on the two second-half TD drives.

PASS DEFENSE: C -- Pass-rush pressure was once again mediocre, and they allowed Dan Orlovsky to put 23 points on the board in the second quarter, as he completed 14 of 18 first-half passes for 140 yards. But interceptions by Mike Brown and Craig Steltz helped make up for some soft coverage. LB Lance Briggs also forced and recovered a fumble by Lions TE Michael Gaines after a short gain.

RUSH DEFENSE: B-plus -- The Bears allowed just 53 yards on 26 attempts and did not permit a run of longer than 11 yards. Adewale Ogunleye stuffed an end-around by Calvin Johnson for a 6-yard loss.

SPECIAL TEAMS: C -- Devin Hester looked ordinary again and lost a fumble on a kickoff return, but he did have a 20-yard punt return that he was close to breaking. P Brad Maynard had a 51-yard punt that was downed at the Lions' one-yard line but later shanked a 12-yarder. PK Robbie Gould was 2-for-2, hitting from 36 and 41.

COACHING: C -- Despite trailing by 10 at halftime they stayed with the run game on offense, and Matt Forte responded with 101 yards on 15 carries. But the overall first-half performance was an embarrassment.
