PLAYER NOTES

--RB Matt Forte was limited to 11 carries and 34 yards after suffering a right big toe injury that caused him to miss a good chunk of the first half. With 10 days until the Monday nighter vs. the Packers, he is expected to be ready to go.

--TE Greg Olsen caught a personal-best eight passes but managed just 45 yards against the Saints.

--WR Devin Hester had a modest four catches for 46 yards, but he drew pass interference penalties of 39 and 38 yards. The first set up a Bears touchdown and the second put the Bears in position for the game-winning field goal.

--QB Kyle Orton's passer rating of 49.2 was his second worst of the season, as he was intercepted twice, both of which led to Saints touchdowns. He completed 24 of 40 passes for 172 yards.

--S-KR Danieal Manning went 83 yards for a touchdown with the opening kickoff and added a 52-yarder on his next return to set up a touchdown against New Orleans.

REPORT CARD VS. SAINTS

PASSING OFFENSE: D - QB Kyle Orton compiled his second-worst passer rating of the season, 49.2, as he completed 24 of 40 passes for 172 yards and was intercepted twice and fumbled an exchange from center, leading to 21 points for the Saints. TE Greg Olsen caught a career-best eight passes for 45 yards. WR Devin Hester had four catches for 46 yards but drew pass interference penalties of 38 and 39 yards.

RUSHING OFFENSE: D - Matt Forte battled through a toe injury that knocked him out for about a quarter and wound up with 34 yards on 11 carries. Fill-in Adrian Peterson picked up 15 yards on five attempts, as the Bears totaled just 55 yards on 20 attempts and did not have a run longer than nine yards.

PASS DEFENSE: B-minus - DE Adewale Ogunleye and S Mike Brown both had interceptions, and QB Drew Brees was limited to 232 yards on 24-for-43 passing and a passer rating of 67.2. But he did throw two touchdown passes.

RUSH DEFENSE: C-plus - Other than a 42-yard touchdown run by Pierre Thomas, the Bears allowed just 77 yards on 31 attempts. LB Brian Urlacher played perhaps his best game of the season with a team-best 10 tackles.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B-plus - Danieal Manning got the party started for the Bears with an 83-yard touchdown return of the opening kickoff and went 52 yards with his next attempt, setting up another touchdown. PK Robbie Gould hit a field goal of 28 yards to tie the game at the end of regulation and a 35-yarder to win it in overtime. P Brad Maynard had a net average of 42.6 yards and added to his NFL lead with two punts inside the 20, giving him 34 on the season. He allowed a total of three return yards.

COACHING: B - The offense rarely functioned well and when it bogged down allowed the Saints back in the game. But they went deep to Devin Hester enough to create some opportunities with 77 yards on two pass interference penalties, including the winning field goal. The defense did a good job of containing Brees and applied decent pressure despite getting just one sack.
