It's not often in the last decade that the Bears have looked forward to the quarterback carousel spinning around.
Count Sunday's game at Lambeau Field as one of those times. Kyle Orton was listed Friday as probable on the injury report and is expected to start against the Green Bay Packers with first place in the NFC North on the line.
Orton was limited in practice again Friday but worked with the first team and will get a final tuneup today during a walk-through. It will mark the Bears' 35th change in starting quarterbacks in 149 regular-season games, a dizzying pace the franchise sees ending with Orton's development.
''Kyle looked better today than he did [Thursday],'' coach Lovie Smith said. ''So we're keeping our fingers crossed with him. See how it goes for him [Saturday], but he's gotten better each day -- there's no reason to think that won't continue [through] Sunday.''
Rex Grossman filled in for six quarters, rallying the Bears from a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat the Detroit Lions and then struggling against the Tennessee Titans in a 21-14 loss last Sunday. Grossman is 3-0 at Lambeau Field, where Orton has never played, but there's little doubt who leads the team.
''K.O. is great,'' wide receiver Rashied Davis said. ''He has been doing well this year, playing great. It will be great to have K.O. back out there. He's been out there all year. Rex was just kind of thrown into the fire one week after not having a lot of reps. K.O. has been good for us all year, he's been there for us all year, and it's good to have the guys who have been out there since camp. We're excited.''
Cornerback Charles Tillman (shoulders) and linebacker Hunter Hillenmeyer (thumb) are also probable. For Green Bay, pass-rushing defensive end Jeremy Thompson (groin) likely will miss the game. Special-teams ace Jarrett Bush (ankle) and defensive tackle Justin Harrell (knee) are questionable.
